Arriving in the Emergency Department

When you arrive at the Emergency Department, you will be triaged by a Registered Nurse within 15 minutes. Triage is a system used to sort patients according to their medical condition. Once triaged, patients are seen in order of severity, not on “first come first serve” basis. The Emergency staff work to provide quality care as quickly as possible. However, the most seriously ill, or injured patients are seen first. While you are waiting to be seen, if your condition changes and you feel worse, you need to inform the emergency nurse.
